I was a Consultant General Surgeon at Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospitals between 1995 and 2017, since when I have been in Private Practice in East Berkshire. Wexham Park Hospital is a large acute District General Hospital in East Berkshire, just West of London. The Heatherwood site in Ascot is where low risk elective surgery is performed and Out Patients are seen.

During my time in East Berkshire I was closely involved in education.  I was for many years the Course Director of the Basic Surgical Skills Course, the Specialist Registrar Skills course, the Care of the Critically Injured Surgical Patient course and of the Laparoscopic Skills course.  I ran a series of study days for Surgical Trainees and a study day for Consultant colleagues on laparoscopic aortic surgery.

I was Wine Secretary of the Windsor and District Medical Society for several years and served as President in 2012-13.

I held a variety of positions in the School of Surgery in Oxford and for a period of 5 years was Training Programme Director, responsible for coordinating the training of all the senior surgical trainees in the region. During the last 3 of these years I was a member of the national committee that put in place the changes in appointment of senior trainees.

I am a member of the British Association of Paediatric Surgeons and was the Lead for General Paediatric Surgery for the Wexham Park and Frimley Health Foundation Trust.

Since leaving Wexham Park I have spent time as a consultant general surgeon in New Zealand and Guernsey.  I have worked in rural hospitals in Scotland as well as working more locally in endoscopy.

My private practice is conducted in East Berkshire at the private clinics and hospitals in Maidenhead, Windsor and Slough.
